Thematic Dataset on Migration

The thematic dataset on Migration compiles more than 1000 variables on migration and migration policies. The variety of harmonized variables in this dataset allows researchers and analysts to:

• evaluate and compare integration policies across time,
• investigate government intentions concerning the selection, admission, settlement, and deportation of foreign citizens,
• explore the political rights of migrants across socio-economic and humanitarian as well as cultural dimensions,
• gather information on the acquisition and loss of citizenship,
• explore many other aspects of migration and migration policies.

Easily combinable with other thematic datasets or variables downloaded in the same format through Demscore, we hope that this thematic dataset can become a valuable resource for our users to explore migration within the field of social sciences and beyond.

*This codebook includes all variables available across all versions of the Thematic Dataset on Migration. Please note that variables from the DEMIG dataset are only included in the Country-Year-Policy version, as they are currently not available in a Country-Year format.
